The certification procedure is compulsory for all healthcare establishments and is overseen by the Haute Autorité de Santé (HAS).
Carried out every four years, this procedure measures a hospital's level of quality by evaluating all its operations and practices, using a reference guide (the certification manual of the Haute Autorité de Santé).
It covers all activities, including the organisation of care, medico-technical services, hotel and logistics services, management policy, quality and risk management. Its aim is to provide an independent assessment of the quality of a healthcare establishment's services.
